Oh dear!! I`m up at 4.15am in the morning... Go to work... ...Usually get back home at around 6pm to 7pm. So today I was very happy to leave work to find the A12 all clear and the Blackwall tunnel running better than usual. I`m traveling on the M2 , bleary eyed, in robot drive home mode and looking forwards to getting back earlier than usual. I get a phone call from Joe of Earthquake - He sounds very exited, explaining that I`ve got to pass by his store and see something. So there goes my early arrival at home. I`m left wondering what the hell it is that he needs me to see. I`m thinking Ah!!! The Magmas are in, or maybe he`s got the Dual 1 OHM dBXi 15" that I`m wishing for. So arriving at Earthquake Joes - I`m greeted by a man who is smiling as if he`s just lost his virginity. BTW: It was none of those things that I was thinking about. ========================================================================== It was this TEAM ICE / QUAKE - install. Built by a guy called Ed. No pics of the NO WALL install - As the owner wants it kept under wraps for now. But there are 4 dodgy photos which I took from my ancient camera phone. Well I can tell you that inside this car is 8x 12" dB Xi subwoofers getting about 4500wrms or so. Had a demo of this system. First thing I noticed was that he`s got an SQ set up thingy going on. The sound stage is suitably high and the stereo image is yet to be fettled with. But I`m liking the sound already. A few flicks of some switches and the door speakers are brought to life, filling the entire cabin area with LOUD, CLEAR sound. Ed tells me he`s used PA speakers for the LOUD stuff and that everything still needs to be sorted out. ...And then the bass kicked in!!! Instant Ear Ache!!! It was savage. Really, really loud, painfull (You know me, Can`t take Loud Bass in my old age). But it sounded smooth with it. Drops very nicely and I`m glad I only listened for about 30 Secs or so. It was quite intense. The other thing is that this install is a NO WALL set up that`s as loud as some walls. It`s not built for pd its` going to all the SPL formats. So keep a look out for it.
